Lees' Trophy - the Final Round
14 May 08
At the beginning of April, the Squadron was inspected by the Regional Commandant and the Assistant Regional Commandant to assess our performance and decide which Squadron will represent the South West of England in the final round of the Lees' trophy competition. We were chosen out of the six Squadrons in the running. This makes us, officially, the best Squadron in the South West of England, an area containing a total of around 180 Squadrons.
The final inspection, carried out by Commandant Air Cadets and his Chief of Staff, is due to take place on 3 Jun. Congratulations and thank you to all those involved with the Squadron, be it staff, cadets, civilian committee members, parents or other supporters.
Finally, good luck to all for the big night!
Lees' Trophy
30 Mar 08
Every year, the Lees' Trophy is awarded to the best Squadron in the Corps. First, the Squadron must endure a series of inspections, competing at a very high standard.
The criteria inclues flying/gliding places, weapon handling tests, marksman badges, exam results, development courses, the DEAS, sporting achievements, administration and work in the community.
At the end of February, we were nominated as the Wing's representative (there are 28 Squadrons in our Wing). Our next inspection will take place on 3 April and will determine the best Squadron in the Region (there are approximately 180 of them).
Awards for Staff
Earlier this month, Flt Lt Breward, OC 2507 Sqn, and Cpl Cole, RAF Service Helper, attended a ceremony in Oxford to each receive a Commandant's Certificate for Meritorious Service.
The Commandant's Certificate is awarded to staff and cadets, from Commandant Air Cadets, in recognition of outstanding commitment and achievement within the Corps.
All those at the Squadron once again thank them, and the other staff, for their hard work over the last year.
Wing Activities Day
Unfortunately, we didn't come away with an overall win this year. However, we did win two Drill trophies and the competition for best website! Well done and thank you to all those who took part.
Promotions
Congratulations go out to our four new Sergeants (Kellar, Sells, Smith and Williams) and our three new Corporals (Gidney, Morris and Syed).
Inter-Squadron Swimming
Bicester succeeded in conquering the Wing in the inter-squadron swimming competition, bringing home more medals then we could carry in our hands and an overall win in the competition. Well done to all those who took part.
